Friendship Advice – How to Be Supportive Even When You Disagree
In all friendships there are bound to be disagreements. When friends disagree there may be more of a focus on winning rather than on resolving the issue. Working to resolve the disagreement will keep the friendship intact which is more important than “winning” or “being right”. In any difficult situation, if we follow these steps, it is possible to be supportive even if we disagree.
1. Listen. We need to listen to the other person’s opinions and perspective without judgement. This means we have to be willing to let go of wanting our own opinions and perspectives to be agreed with so we can really hear what our friend is saying.
2. Remain calm. When we are involved in a disagreement, it is very important to remain calm and keep our tone and language relaxed and open. It is not helpful when one person becomes angry, uses foul language, closes down emotionally, or leaves the room. If this happens, let some time pass and approach your friend when they are calm. Did Princess Diana Foresee Her Death
Though her untimely death occurred on August 31, 1997 in a car crash, which was declared as an accident that occurred because of a driver who was drunk and who was driving the car very fast, Princess Diana was already aware that there were plans to kill her.
After her divorce to Prince Charles, she wrote in a letter to her former butler, Paul Burrell, that she was living in the most dangerous phase of her life, where plans for murdering her were being made. She even had information that there were plans being made to tamper with the brakes of her car, to cause a car accident and to also cause a serious head injury.
This information was reportedly passed on to her by an insider of the Royal family and also by someone who was working for the British Intelligence. As per Paul Burrell, Princess Diana was completely relying on the friendship, advice and sincerity of this person who was giving her this information. She also felt that the primary reason why she may be killed was to enable Prince Charles to marry again. Become Friends and then Do Business
For a number of years I worked for AMF Bakery Systems, a division of AMF that manufactures equipment for large wholesale bakeries throughout the world. I joined the company as vice president of engineering and later served as vice president of sales. Having no prior experience in baking, or the food industry for that matter, I experienced a steep learning curve.
Most large industries and professions have a technical society which provides research, education, the exchange of ideas, and events to bring its members together periodically for various activities. The technical society for the baking industry is the American Institute of Baking, with headquarters in Manhattan, Kansas.
One course taught by AIB is “Baking for Non-Bakers.” It is a one-week course that is both informative and fun. They teach the theory of baking in the morning and set you loose in the afternoon in the kitchen to bake. Read the rest of this entry »
